Dry skin is an uncomfortable condition marked by scaling, itching, and cracking. It can occur for a variety of reasons. Some people have naturally dry skin and may experience frequent symptoms. However, even the oiliest skin can get dry at times.

Skin dryness can occur on any part of the body, but it is most common on the legs, arms, and abdominal area.

For many reasons, dry skin is not a sign of a skin condition or disease, but is simply caused by:

  • Harsh soaps
  • Itchy clothing
  • Misusing moisturiser
  • Long and hot showers
  • Medications you take
  • Medical conditions such as diabetes, psoriasis, hypothyroidism, and malnutrition – can also cause severe dry skin.
  • Winter Weather
  • Moisture-Robbing Soaps
  • The Rub-Down
  • Aging
  • Irritants
  • Your Health

Dry skin that does not improve with lifestyle remedies may be a result of an underlying medical condition. Dermatitis is the medical term for extremely dry skin. The four types of dermatitis are:

  • Allergic
  • Atopic
  • Contact
  • Seborrheic

Allergic dermatitis occurs when your immune system reacts to a foreign substance — such as pollen, bee venom or pet dander — that doesn’t cause a reaction in most people. The immune system is an intricate system that defends the body against external invaders, such as bacteria and viruses, while also surveying for conditions such as cancer and autoimmunity. When you have allergies, your immune system makes antibodies that identify a particular allergen as harmful, even though it isn’t. When you come into contact with the allergen, your immune system’s reaction can inflame your skin. While environment plays a role in allergy development, there is a greater risk of developing allergic conditions if a person has a family history of allergy, especially in parents or siblings. The severity of allergies varies from person to person and can range from minor irritation to anaphylaxis — a potentially life-threatening emergency. While most allergies can’t be cured, a number of treatments can help relieve your allergy symptoms.

Allergy symptoms depend on the substance involved and can involve the airways, sinuses and nasal passages, skin, and digestive system. Allergic reactions can range from mild to severe. In some severe cases, allergies can trigger a life-threatening reaction known as anaphylaxis.

Allergy-producing substances are called “allergens.” Examples of allergens include pollens, dust mites, molds, animal proteins, foods, and even medications. To understand the language of allergy, it is important to remember that allergens are substances that are foreign to the body and can cause an allergic reaction in certain people. When an allergic individual comes in contact with an allergen, the immune.

If you’ve had a severe allergy attack or any signs and symptoms of anaphylaxis in the past, make an appointment to see your doctor.

ACNE

Acne

What Is Acne?Acne, medically known as Acne Vulgaris, is a skin disease that involves the oil glands at the base of hair follicles. It commonly occurs during puberty when the sebaceous (oil) glands come to life – the glands are stimulated by male hormones, which are produced by the adrenal glands of both males and females.
The word acne comes from the word acme meaning “the highest point,” which comes from the Greek akme meaning “point” or “spot” – it was originally misspelt, with an ‘n’ rather than an ‘m’ in 1835.
In humans, pimples tend to appear on the face, back, chest, shoulders and neck.Simply put – skin cells, sebum and hair can clump together into a plug, this plug gets infected with bacteria, resulting in a swelling. A pimple starts to develop when the plug begins to break down.
Acne isn’t just problem for teens in puberty. Adults can get or have it as well. There is a lot of girls cant leave the house without make up to hide it. They think there is no way to get rid of it cause there are steps you can take to turn your skin around at any age.
There are many reasons you can break out as an adult:

Menstrual cycle
Anxiety and stress
Hot and humid climates
Oil based makeups
Greasy hair
Squeezing the pimples
changes in your hormone levels
Some medications, including lithium, antiseizure drugs, and corticosteroids .
Pressure
Cosmetics

Your dermatologist can help you figure out why your acne is happening. In some cases, it may be related to another condition.

Daily Skin Care:

Wash your face about twice each day. Do not wash it more often. Use a mild soap made for people with acne, and warm water.
Don’t try to burst the pimples cause Popping pimples makes scarring more likely.
Try to refrain from touching your face with your hands.
Keep your hands clean, wash them regularly.
Always wash your hands before touching your face and before applying lotions, creams or makeup.
If you are wearing Glasses they should regularly be cleaned. Glasses always collect sebum and skin residue.
Your skin needs to breathe. If your acne is on your back, shoulders or chest try to wear clothes your skin can breath. Tight garments, such as headbands, caps and scarves should be avoided – if you have to wear them make sure they are cleaned regularly.
Don’t go to sleep with makeup on. But if you want you should use makeup which does not contain oil and does not clog up the pores, if you cant find it – ask the pharmacist or shopkeeper of the drugstore.
(Only use makeup that is noncomedogenic or nonacnegenic) – you should be able to read this on the label.
As you know Hair collects sebum and skin residue you should to keep your hair clean and away from your face.
Too much sun can make your skin to produce more sebum. Acne medications make it more likely as a sunburn.
If you shave your face, do it carefully. Use either an electric shaver or safety razor. Before using a safety razor make sure the blade is sharp – then soften your skin and beard with warm soapy water before applying the shaving cream.

The majority of people who get acne will develop mild acne. This can usually be treated with OTC (over-the-counter) medications. OTC medications can be bought at any pharmacy without a doctor’s prescription. They are usually applied to the skin as topical medicines.
Over-the-Counter Creams and Lotions. Retinoid creams or lotions can help clear your skin and also lessen wrinkles.

Here some Products which can be good for the occasional spot treatment:
